My latest podcast takes you on a sound-rich tour of the Rastro. Using custom built microphones and a special setup, I recorded this in binaural audio, which is incredibly immersive and three dimensional. You’ll feel like you’re there. If you’ve never heard binaural audio recordings before, you’re in for a treat. (To get the effect, you have to wear headphones or earbuds.)
I’d love to hear your comments! Thanks for listening.
Me encanta es fenomenal. Más. Danos más. Bien hecho.
Muchísimas gracias. ¡Estoy en ello!
Unbelievable! I was completely transported and felt that I was right there! Can’t wait for your next “soundscape” incredibly fun experience to listen to this.
Thank you so much. Makes me feel better about all the money I spent on microphones! 🙂
Wow……what a wonderful experience…..glad to have learned about what binaural is all about…great music too…definately a must hear!!!!
Thank you Bev. Your store is very cool, love the cushions.
¡Qué increíble! A stimulating feast for the ears — and for the emotions. This brought me back to my beloved trip to Spain, where the voices, music, and sounds that seemed to be everywhere were profoundly memorable and unique. I know I will return to this again; I had to second guess myself at times, the sounds were so realistic. I love this. ¡Muchísimas gracias!
I’m delighted it helped you relive happy memories! It does really transport you there, doesn’t it? Thank you very much Moriah.
Fantastico. Looking forward to my next audio visit.
Gracias. The next one is in the works.
Bueniiiiiisimo!!! Mike, you are an artist, painting with sound! I really, really loved this. Sitting in the garden, headphones on, eyes shut, and boom! Transported to the Rastro! I really enjoyed the snippets of conversation, the bar (I wonder who ordered the ‘doble’!), the bird shop, and especially all the music that weaved in and out – perfectly done.
More binaural soundscapes please! It’s like free travel! Or tele-transportation! By the way, is it me, or do the Spanish out on the street swear a lot?
Thank you Ben. Means a lot coming from you! And yes, haha, I left that in wondering whether anyone would catch it. Joder, good ears amigo!
Ben, thank you so much for sharing this with your subscriber base. And Mike, wow!. Thank you so much for creating this. What a treat!
Ben es buena gente. Thank you for your kind comment Kathleen!
Makes you want to go back to Madrid!
Thank you Patrick. Glad you enjoyed it.
What an incredible feast to the senses, not only the hearing! You feel as if you’re there! Thank you and bring us more!
Many thanks Helena. I’m on it!

Me alegro mucho, gracias Dianne.
Love it, love I love it!
I just need a tapa in front of me for a complete immersion. I think I’ll get one, good idea,
Cheers!
Great idea! Thank you.
I want to echo all of the above comments! It was totally absorbing. An existential experience of “yo and tu” with the tu being the Rastro! Wow, when I go back I’ll be listening with a different ear! Mil gracias and looking forward to future podcasts by you, Mike…
Actually, recording and also listening to this kind of audio does sharpen your listening skills and you start to appreciate things that you might have missed. Thanks for your comment.
Really enjoyed listening to this sitting in our garden in Portman (near Cartagena) thank you so much. I love hearing this beautiful language xx
Thanks for your comment Jean. More on the way!
Wonderful experience, thanks a bundle, from a stroke survivor
My pleasure Patrick. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, I appreciate it.

It’s pretty cool, I think you’ll like it. Thanks!
Estupendo! Muchas gracias, Ben y Mike.
🙂
That was so fun! It took me right back to my semester in Madrid.
Happy to hear that. (No pun intended!) Thanks for your comment Geri.
It really was like ¨being¨ there! 🙂 Thank you for the mini- excursión!
You’re very welcome. Thank you for listening!
Qué padre! I may have my students listen to this to relax the last few minutes of class. Mil Gracias!
De nada, Becky. Thank *you* for sharing it!
This is great! Thanks! One day a week we focus on listening comprehension and we will use this.
Something to consider may be a VR tour link with this and/or video so my beginning students can enjoy visually as well. For now, we will write about the sounds we hear and the upper levels can use their notes and sounds to write about in their weekly journals.
I’m delighted it’s useful to you. Thanks for your suggestion, too. Right now, however, I’m concentrating on audio. As they say, it’s the most visual medium. Close your eyes while listening and ‘see’ for yourself, it’s cool!
As for the images part, I do have my ebook on sale until the end of October 😉

Oh! How wonderful. For a few minutes I imagined I was back in Spain enjoying un cafe con leche in a busy town. The voices : some soft some loud, the people : some young some old, the music and those birds, oh those birds! So enjoyable, I loved it.
Very happy you enjoyed it Barbara! Stay tuned, there’s more to come. 🙂
Just in the middle of listening to it. I have a stinking cold and was feeling a bit sorry for myself, but this has lifted my spirits and transported me to another fascinating world. So glad I just stumbled across this link as I surfed with no particular aim. And that I somehow had some earphones to hand ( For some reason I never use headphones and hide then away) Thank you so much,Mike
How nice of you to take the time to let me know, I really appreciate it. Thank you Patsy. Have lots of ‘caldo’ and get well soon!
